Friday Favorite

In trying to think of my favorite thing this week, my first thought was UGH!  August has started and my classroom is not ready!  It makes my anxious, but we are not allowed to enter the building until August 6th, when the school gains control of the brand new wing of the building.  I am moving into a brand new classroom and everything (YES, EVERYTHING) is packed in boxes.  I will have a total of 4 days in my classroom to unpack.

My Friday Favorite is My Math Lab.  My school district is allowing us to pilot the use of My Math Lab for our Algebra 3 with Trigonometry class.  The students will be completing the majority of their homework online.  I am so excited.  I feel like my whole career is changing.  I will not be grading any homework!  The computer will grade all numerical answers.  I only have to grade written responses and every one of those will be typed so I can actually read what is written!  My desk will no longer look like it changes to white with all the papers to be graded, recorded and passed back.  Needless to say I am so excited about this change.

My Friday Favorite recipe is Cheesy Mexican Chicken and Rice.  Mix all of the following in a 9 by 13 glass baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for about an hour.  6 raw boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces), 1 can of cream of chicken soup, 2 cups of minute rice, 2 cups of water, 2 cups of grated cheese and 1 packet of taco seasoning.  (I know that there are more than 5 ingredients, but water shouldn't count as a real ingredient since the recipe is so easy and delicious!!)

That's all for now...

  1. I think you will love MML! I'm very sad to be leaving it. It gives students instant feedback, encourages them to pay attention to detail, and frees teachers to focus on things other than grading. I love it. :)
